TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, proposed an additional budget of Rp16.13 trillion for the fiscal year 2026. This proposal is submitted to support the continuation of the multi-year contract (MYC) project and the development of new infrastructure in the Central Government Area (KIPP) of the new capital.
Basuki explained that the indicative budget of the agency in 2026 was actually worth Rp5.05 trillion, so they proposed an additional budget of Rp16.13 trillion. Thus, the total budget of the IKN Authority in 2026 becomes Rp21.18 trillion.
The proposal has been submitted to the Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani, through a letter from the Head of the IKN Authority, Number B.132/Head/Authority IKN/VII/2025 on July 4, 2025. "The indicative budget is only Rp5, so we need Rp16.13," he said when met at the House of Representatives building on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
According to the Deputy of Infrastructure and Facilities of IKN Authority, Danis H. Sumadilaga, the additional budget will focus on the scope of new projects, such as the construction of judiciary and legislative buildings. "Which comprises 7 work packages. The development will also be centered on the roads around the government center area, embankments, and the drinking water system," he explained.
In addition to the development of basic infrastructure, Basuki also highlighted the need for a budget for the construction of ministerial housing (RTJM) with the government-to-business cooperation (KPBU) scheme.
The housing project consists of 8 apartment towers and 109 landed houses. "For KPBU, we are now awaiting for the Minister of Finance's signature for its payment availability. Everything has been processed. Landed houses by Intiland and 8 towers by Nindya Karya," he said.
Based on official statements, President Prabowo Subianto has approved the budget requirements for the construction of IKN up to 2028 amounting to Rp48.8 trillion. The budget will be allocated to fund a number of strategic second-phase developments, making IKN the political capital in 2028.
