TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the evacuation of Indonesian citizens from Iran, following the recent attacks by Israel and the United States, will continue with their gradual repatriation beginning Monday, June 23, 2025.
"The first phase of the flight plan will be carried out using commercial planes on Monday, June 23, and will arrive in Jakarta on June 24," said Judha Nugraha, Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a written statement on Sunday evening, June 22, 2025.
Judha stated that the ministry is continuously monitoring 97 individuals who have been relocated from Iran to Azerbaijan before their return to Indonesia. He confirmed that they are all safe in Baku.
Those evacuated consist of 93 Indonesian citizens, three embassy staff members, and one foreign national, an Iranian citizen who is the partner of an Indonesian national.
Furthermore, Judha assured that the ministry will continue to monitor the situation following the United States' attack on Iran's nuclear facilities to decide on further steps.
In a picture released on Sunday, Rolliansyah Soemirat, commonly known as Roy, Spokesperson of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was seen participating in the evacuation of Indonesian citizens.
Earlier this year, Roy was appointed as the Indonesian Ambassador to Iran. He accompanied the evacuated Indonesian citizens to the city of Astara on the Iran-Azerbaijan border on Saturday night local time.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it is not yet able to fully disclose further details regarding the ongoing evacuation operation to the public for security reasons.
