TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa announced plans to allocate between Rp10 trillion and Rp20 trillion of government funds to Bank Jakarta.
The move follows the ministry’s earlier placement of Rp200 trillion in the five state-owned banks under the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara).
The plan was revealed after Purbaya met with Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
“Since Jakarta has Bank Jakarta, I’ve already placed Rp200 trillion in Himbara. So why not add tens of trillions to Bank Jakarta?” Purbaya said after the meeting.
He added that the proposal had been discussed with Governor Pramono, who expressed confidence that Bank Jakarta would be able to absorb and channel the funds effectively through credit distribution.
“I asked the Governor earlier whether Bank Jakarta could handle it. I don’t want to cause panic by injecting too much at once. The Governor said it can,” Purbaya said.
The minister indicated that the fund placement would be carried out soon at Bank Jakarta and another regional bank in East Java, though he did not specify an exact timeline.
“I’ll calculate the amount in the near future. Even Rp10-20 trillion should be manageable,” he added. Purbaya emphasized that the funds would be directed toward supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and other productive sectors in Jakarta and beyond.
Earlier, on September 12, 2025, the government had transferred Rp200 trillion from Bank Indonesia to the five Himbara banks. Purbaya previously stated that the measure was intended to deepen the financial market and stimulate lending to the real sector in order to spur economic growth.
