TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Victor Rachmat Hartono, Chief Executive Officer of Indonesian conglomerate PT Djarum, has been barred from traveling abroad as part of an ongoing corruption investigation into alleged tax irregularities dating from 2016 to 2020.

According to data from the Directorate General of Immigration, the travel ban is in effect from November 14, 2025, to May 14, 2026.

The request was issued by the Attorney General’s Office through reference letter R-1431/D/DIP-4/1/2025 as part of its probe into suspected corruption related to tax obligations.

Victor is among several individuals placed under travel restrictions. Others include former Director General of Taxation Ken Dwijugiasteadi; South Jakarta Tax Office examiner Karl Layman; tax consultant Heru Budijanto Prabowo; and Head of the Madya Semarang Tax Office, Bernadette Ning Djah Prananingrum.

Anang Supriatna, Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Center, confirmed the request.

“It’s true that the Attorney General’s Office has requested a travel ban on several individuals,” he said on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

He noted that the move is connected to investigations into suspected corruption involving past tax payment obligations, allegedly tied to several former tax officials. Anang declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing nature of the case.

Acting Director General of Immigration Yuldi Yusman also confirmed the bans, stating that all five individuals had been placed on the list at the request of the Attorney General’s Office.

PT Djarum, however, said it had not been informed of Victor’s status. “We only just learned about this based on the information you provided,” said Corporate Communications Manager Budi Darmawan.

Victor Rachmat Hartono is the eldest son of businessman Budi Hartono. He has served as PT Djarum’s Operations Director since 1999 and also leads the Djarum Foundation, the conglomerate’s philanthropic arm.

No suspects have been named in the case. Anang previously stated that the investigation remains in its preliminary phase. Several witnesses have been questioned, and prosecutors have conducted searches at multiple locations, including the residence of former tax chief Ken Dwijugiastead
