TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Agriculture Andi Aman Sulaiman conveyed the plan to build dozens of livestock feed factories to President Prabowo Subianto in a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
"We plan to build upstream, in the form of smallholder farms," Amran said after the limited meeting with Prabowo at the Presidential Palace.
According to Amran, these livestock feed factories are intended to support small-scale chicken farmers. The government plans to build livestock feed factories at 30 points with a budget of Rp20 trillion.
In the first stage, the government will build 12 feed factories. Then, in the second stage, they will build 18 more. "Once again, this is built for and supports small-scale farmers," said Amran.
The construction of dozens of factories is also aimed at supporting the ecosystem of smallholder farms from the upstream side to maintain the stability of feed prices, vaccines, and medicines. The government seeks to ensure the sustainability of 3.7 million farming businesses throughout Indonesia.
"We prepare the HPP (cost of goods sold). HPP must be well-maintained. Sale price, cost of goods sold, farms, eggs, and then there will be HET (highest retail price) for feed. So that prices do not fluctuate much," he said.
