TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian national team is scheduled to face Iraq in the second match of Group B in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian zone at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, Jeddah, on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 02:30 AM WIB (Western Indonesia Time). The match will be broadcast live on RCTI or streamed on Vision+.
The Indonesia vs Iraq match will be crucial for the Garuda squad after failing to secure a victory in the first match against the home team, Saudi Arabia, early Thursday morning (WIB). Indonesia must win to keep its hopes alive for qualifying for the World Cup.
During the match against Saudi Arabia, the Garuda Team initially took the lead through Kevin Diks' penalty goal in the 11th minute. However, the lead did not last long. Saudi Arabia scored through Abu Al Shamat in the 17th minute and two goals from Firas Al Buraikan in the 34th and 62nd minutes. Diks narrowed Indonesia's deficit with a penalty in the 89th minute, ending the match with a score of 2-3 in favor of the Green Falcons.
With that result, Saudi Arabia tops the Group B standings with three points from one match. Second place goes to Iraq, which has yet to play its first match. Meanwhile, Indonesia is at the bottom of the standings with no points.
Under the coaching of Patrick Kluivert, the team must win to keep their chances alive for the next round. According to the regulations, the winner of Group B will directly qualify for the 2026 World Cup, while the runner-up will advance to the fifth round to compete for the remaining tickets to the world's biggest football event. The team in third place will be eliminated.
