TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's exports saw 7.7 percent growth during the first semester of 2025, said Trade Minister Budi Santoso. Compared to last year's US$125.73 billion, Indonesia recorded a total of US$135.41 billion in exports during the first half of this year.
"Total exports during the first semester of 2025 reached US$135.41 billion, up 7.7 percent," he said at the Ministry of Trade office, Jakarta, on Monday, August 4th, 2025.
The cumulative export value was supported by strengthened non-oil and gas exports and the decline in oil and gas exports. Non-oil and gas exports grew by 8.96 percent, from US$117.83 billion in the first semester of 2024 to US$128.39 billion by this year's first half.
Meanwhile, oil and gas exports slumped 11.04 percent by midyear 2025, at US$7.03 billion as compared to US$7.9 billion during the same period last year.
According to Budi, the national export performance in the first semester of 2025 has shown positive growth. "It serves as a strong signal for achieving the annual export target. I have mentioned our national yearly export target to be 7.1 percent, and in this first semester, it reached 7.7 percent," he said.
Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of US$4.1 billion in June 2025, which extends the surplus to 62 consecutive months since May 2020. "In total, Indonesia's trade balance for the first semester was US$19.48 billion, higher than last year, which was US$15.58 billion," said Budi.
Indonesia logged the largest trade surplus this year with the United States. "Looking at our trading partners, our highest surplus is with America, which contributed the highest this first semester at US$9.92 billion," he said.
Budi said the surplus indicates the competitiveness of Indonesian products, despite the looming U.S. reciprocal tariffs. "Later, we will continue to push and strive for improved exports despite the implementation of reciprocal tariffs," he said.
