TEMPO.COJakarta - The Indonesian female tennis player Janice Tjen has climbed in rank and is now in the top 100 WTA ranking. Her position rose after competing in WTA 125 Suzhou in China.

In the event, she successfully clinched the doubles title with her compatriot Aldila Sutjiadi. For the singles category, she advanced to the main draw after winning two qualifying matches in straight sets. However, her journey ended in the first round.

According to the WTA ranking on Monday, October 6, 2025, Janice is currently ranked 99th in the world. This is her career-best ranking, with a record of 67 wins and 14 losses.

The 23-year-old Jakarta-born tennis player also made strides in the doubles category, securing the 155th position, her highest in her career, with a record of 58 wins and 23 losses.

Janice arrived in Suzhou after an early exit in the first round of the WTA 1000 China Open. Nevertheless, she managed to climb one spot to occupy the 102nd position in the world through the qualifying round victory.

Prior to the Asian tour, Janice made her WTA debut in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In the WTA 250-level event, she finished as the runner-up, leading to a leap in her ranking to 103rd in the world from 130th in the world after her debut appearance in the major tournament US Open.

In her Grand Slam debut, Janice performed admirably with a first-round victory over Veronika Kudermetova after never losing a set in three qualifying matches.

Janice Tjen also made history by ending Indonesia's long wait for a female singles tennis player at a Grand Slam, following Angelique Widjaja's last representation at the US Open 2004.

According to WTA records, before arriving in New York for the US Open qualifiers, Janice had won 45 out of her last 50 professional matches. During this period, she reached nine ITF finals, won six titles, and climbed over 200 ranks, from 371st to 149th.
