The U-17 Indonesian national team is scheduled to continue their training camp in Dubai after a test match in Bulgaria. This schedule aims to further prepare them for the U-17 World Cup in 2025.
Nova Arianto, the coach of the U-17 Indonesian national team, revealed that the training camp in Dubai is scheduled for October. He conveyed this information through a messaging application on Monday, September 15, 2025.
However, Nova has not yet specified how many matches his team will play in Dubai. He stated that detailed information about the upcoming test matches in October will be announced by the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI). "We'll wait for an update from PSSI," he said.
Regarding the team's goals for the test matches, Nova also mentioned that this information will be communicated by the football federation led by Erick Thohir.
In their last test match, the U-17 Indonesian national team narrowly lost 0-1 to North Macedonia at the Dragalevtsi Stadium in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Indonesia conceded a goal in the 30th minute and was unable to score an equalizer until the end of the match.
The match against North Macedonia was the final test match in the series of training camps for the young Indonesian team in Bulgaria. Prior to this, the Garuda Muda squad played two test matches. The Red and White team won 6-0 against PFC Septemvri Sofia on September 7, 2025, and drew 1-1 against CSKA Sofia on September 10.
Prior to this, Nova mentioned that there are several aspects that need to be evaluated from his team based on the results of the training camp in Bulgaria. He particularly highlighted the players' focus and consistency during the three friendly matches.
"The issues of focus and consistency in the matches are our main evaluations during our time in Bulgaria because whenever the players lose concentration, the team's performance doesn't go well," Nova told Tempo on early Sunday, September 14, 2025.
Through his Instagram account @novarianto30, the former Indonesian national team player expressed his delight at his team's opportunity to have test matches against opponents with exceptional character and physical attributes in Bulgaria.
The test matches in Bulgaria aimed to provide international match experience for all players. "Aside from finding our core team composition for the U-17 World Cup," he said, as quoted from his Instagram account.
The results of the test matches in Bulgaria served as an evaluation of the players before the U-17 Indonesian national team undergoes their final preparation in Yogyakarta and the test matches in Dubai. "We will have our final test matches in Dubai before we compete in the U-17 World Cup in Qatar," he stated.
The U-17 Indonesian national team continues to solidify their preparation for the 2025 U-17 World Cup, which will take place in Qatar from November 5 to 27. Garuda Muda is placed in Group H, which also includes Brazil, Honduras, and Zambia.
