TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - At least 50 Palestinian civilians, many of whom were seeking food, were shot dead by Israeli forces, and more than 200 others were injured in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, said medical officials.
A medical source told Anadolu that 37 people were killed by Israeli army fire while waiting near a food distribution point at the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza, and in an attack on a house in east Gaza City.
Al-Awda Hospital reported receiving 146 injured individuals, including 62 in critical condition, following Israeli fire at a food distribution site on Salah Al-Din Street in central Gaza.
Witnesses said several bodies remained on the ground near the Netzarim Corridor. Medical teams were unable to retrieve them due to continued Israeli shooting in the area.
In another incident, eight people were killed when Israeli forces targeted a house in the al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City, medical officials reported.
Three more civilians were killed and several others injured when Israeli troops opened fire on a tent sheltering displaced people in northern Khan Younis, southern Gaza, according to a medical source.
The same source added that two bodies were recovered in Khan Younis from a previous Israeli strike.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that at least 503 Palestinian aid seekers have been killed and 3,000 others injured by Israeli gunfire in Gaza since May 27.
Despite mounting international calls for a ceasefire, Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has continued since October 2023. Nearly 56,000 Palestinian civilians have been killed so far, the majority of whom were women and children.
In November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza.
Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over its actions in the enclave.
