TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government will be offering a special fare of Rp80 for all public transportation in Greater Jakarta in celebration of Indonesia's 80th Independence Day on August 17, 2025.
"On the 17th, all transportation in Jakarta, and not only Jakarta but also Jabodetabek (Greater Jakarta), under the responsibility of our government, will charge Rp80," the Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said during a press conference at a seminar on "Realizing Jakarta as a Top 50 Global City Through the Acceleration of Infrastructure Innovation and Digital Services," on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
According to Pramono, the Rp80 fare has been communicated to the central government and "the Ministry of State Secretary," he said.
Jakarta Transportation Agency Head Syafrin Liputo explained that the special transportation fare will apply to Transjakarta and Trans Jabodetabek services. "As well as MRT and LRT Jakarta, on August 17, will apply the Rp80 fare," he said.
Since August 17 falls on a Sunday, Syafrin said that the Car Free Day will also be canceled. "Because it's a Sunday, the Car Free Day is canceled," said Syafrin.
On the same day, the Jakarta Provincial Government will also hold the 80th Independence Day ceremony at Jakarta City Hall.
