TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Jaya Police deployed 8,095 joint security personnel to safeguard multiple public events across the capital on Friday, August 14, including the President's State Address.

The security perimeter covers gatherings in the Senayan area, the RI Fest in Gambir, the National Scout Jamboree in East Jakarta, alongside several public demonstrations.

"Specifically to secure the Senayan area, a joint force of 8,095 personnel has been fielded," Jakarta Metropolitan Police Head of Public Relations Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto stated in Jakarta on Friday.

Budi noted that personnel allocation was tailored to the nature of each event, potential security risks, and ground-level needs across locations.

He detailed that the contingent comprises 800 officers from National Police Headquarters, 4,230 from Metro Jaya Police, 1,163 from precinct police forces (Polres), 1,850 Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel, and 52 officers from the Jakarta Provincial Government, including the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Transportation Agency, Health Agency, and fire department.

"Metro Jaya Police has prepared personnel to maintain security while serving the public. All personnel are instructed to prioritize a persuasive, humane approach so that community activities proceed safely and orderly," Budi said.

Budi stressed that security is being executed in multi-layered tiers, prioritizing preemptive and preventive measures. Law enforcement will serve strictly as a last resort, depending on conditions in the field. Furthermore, all personnel on duty are prohibited from carrying firearms.

Meanwhile, traffic management and rerouting schemes will be applied situationally based on real-time vehicle flow. Traffic diversions will be enacted only if severe congestion develops to maintain smooth public mobility.

"We urge the public planning activities around Senayan, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Palmerah, and the Parliament complex to account for travel times and follow officers' directions if congestion builds up," Budi advised.

The Metro Jaya Police appeals to the public to remain calm and cooperate in preserving order throughout all events. Residents requiring police assistance can contact the National Police Call Center at 110.
