TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi affirmed that the bomb threats against three international schools in South Tangerang and North Jakarta were false. "We conducted on site inspection and nothing was found," he said when met in Menteng, Jakarta, on Friday, October 10, 2025.
Following this finding, Prasetyo said the citizens must beware of hoaxes that may emerge at any time. The Gerindra Party politician then warned that nobody should deliberately send fake bomb threats.
"When it comes to security disturbances, especially involving bombs and particularly in educational institutions, it is a very, very sensitive matter," he said.
The minister reiterated President Prabowo Subianto's warning against hoaxes, calling for people to remain vigilant and verify the truth when faced with new information. This, he said, is something the government must work to resolve.
"Our homework is far greater than apologizing that some irresponsible parties are throwing out issues or disseminating such disturbing information," he said.
Two international schools in South Tangerang previously received bomb threats on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The sender demanded a ransom of US$30,000 to a bitcoin address.
The first school to receive the bomb threat message was Jakarta Nanyang School in Pagedangan, Tangerang Regency. The school received a message that a bomb had been placed on the school grounds. Next, the Mentari Intercultural School, located in Bintaro, also received a similar bomb threat message.
Police did not find any explosive materials as mentioned in the threats. On Wednesday, October 8, a school in North Jakarta also received a similar bomb threat, namely the North Jakarta Intercultural School (NJIS) located in the Kelapa Gading area.
Kelapa Gading Police also did not find anything when inspecting the location. The Jakarta Metro Police claimed that the situation was safe and under control after a series of bomb threat messages at the three schools.
The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police, Brigadier General Ade Ary Syam Indrad, said that the public need not to worry about the threat as police searches came up empty. According to him, the public can continue their activities as normal, with the police on guard 24 hours a day.
But investigations to unveil the threat senders are underway. The sender is known to use a foreign country code phone number. "Stop your harmful actions that disturb public order," Ade Ary said at the Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, on Thursday, referring to the perpetrators.
