TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that it is currently investigating alleged corruption in the procurement of Google Cloud services at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). However, this case is still in the initial investigation stage.
"This is still under investigation," said Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, at the Red and White KPK Building on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
Asep explained that the procurement of Google Cloud is closely related to the case of procuring Chromebook laptops that are currently being handled by the Attorney General's Office. According to him, the cloud service is part of the overall procurement project. "The Chromebook cannot be separated. There is Google Cloud and other parts of it. This is still under investigation," said Asep.
The KPK spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo, stated that he cannot provide details of this case as it has not yet reached the investigation stage. However, he said that they will request information from parties who are suspected of knowing about the case construction, including the former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Nadiem Makarim.
"Of course, in the process, the KPK will request information from parties who are suspected of knowing," said Budi at the Red and White KPK Building, South Jakarta, on Monday, July 21, 2027.
So, what is the actual Google Cloud service being investigated by the KPK in the alleged procurement corruption at Kemendikbudristek? Here's the information.
