Lufthansa Aircraft Bound for Hyderabad Diverts Back to Germany Following Bomb Threat

6 hours ago 2

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lufthansa Flight LH752 from Frankfurt to Hyderabad, India, was forced to return to Germany due to a bomb threat, as reported by India Today. The aircraft was in the middle of its journey, still outside the Indian airspace, when the threat was received on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

"The flight returned to its origin because of a bomb threat which was received while the aircraft was still outside the Indian airspace," said an Indian official quoted by the Indian news agency ANI, as cited by the Times of India.

Flight LH752 took off from Frankfurt, a busy international airport in Germany, around 2:14 PM local time. Despite the inconvenience to those on the aircraft, the decision to return to Germany was swiftly made to ensure the safety of everyone on board.

The flight, which was originally scheduled to arrive at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Sunday morning, was rejected from land in India.

Rejected Landing in India

According to a Lufthansa spokesperson, the aircraft returned to Germany because it was denied permission to land at Hyderabad Airport, further complicating the already tense situation. The bomb threat, which emerged while the aircraft was still outside Indian airspace, triggered standard safety protocols. After circling for some time, the aircraft safely returned to Frankfurt without any incident.

Although no explosive devices were found, the threat caused significant disruption to the passengers and crew. Lufthansa confirmed that the passengers on the flight were safe and protected during the airborne U-turn. The airline assured the passengers that they take such threats very seriously and strictly adhere to protocols in such highly tense situations to safeguard the lives of all passengers.

Return after Two Hours

A passenger, quoted by India Times, said the flight was initially smooth. "But two hours in, they said we were going back. Now they’re giving us accommodation and said we’ll leave tomorrow at 10 am on the same flight," they said.

Airlines regularly conduct safety simulations and training to prepare their crew for various emergencies, including bomb threats and other security risks. This training protocol plays a crucial role in maintaining operational readiness and ensuring the safety of passengers and crew.

Following the incident, Lufthansa issued a statement thanking the passengers for their understanding and patience. The airline also expressed gratitude to the relevant authorities for their swift response to the situation, ensuring the safety and security of everyone involved.
