TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government may add a new batch to the 2025 National Internship Program if the first phase is well-received by recent graduates.
"Later, if this is in line with what Pak Menko (Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto) has conveyed, if the interest is high, we can open for batch 2, batch 3," said Manpower Minister Yassierli at the National Development Planning Agency building in Jakarta, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, as reported by Antara.
National Internship Program Details and Objectives
As an initial stage, the Ministry of Manpower has opened a quota for 20,000 recent graduates from higher education institutions to gain work experience and receive state incentives through the program.
The 2025 National Internship Program is a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's directive to accelerate the absorption of young workers through structured internships. The program focuses on various skill-based industrial sectors that align with current job market needs.
Interns will be facilitated through an application portal, which was launched on Monday, October 6, 2025, allowing registration to start immediately. The government stated that the selection process will be transparent, easy, and connected to the specific needs of participating companies.
The Ministry of Manpower will act as a facilitator, bridging the gap between skilled graduates and private companies that offer internship positions in their respective fields of expertise.
National Internship Program Incentives and Logistics
The government will provide interns with incentives equivalent to the minimum wage in the relevant regency or city for six months, with a maximum Regency/City Minimum Wage (UMK) ceiling of Rp3.3 million. The system prioritizes efficiency by matching interns with work locations in their hometowns, reducing additional costs for accommodation or transportation.
According to the Ministry's records, 451 companies have already applied to participate in the National Internship Program, proposing 1,300 positions for thousands of prospective interns. Graduates still have the opportunity to register until October 12, 2025.
Yassierli ensured that all registered companies are credible because they undergo a verification process. "We have a team from the labor mediator who verifies the proposed job vacancies from companies. So not all job proposals from companies will necessarily be accepted," he explained.
Timeline and Target
The National Internship is part of the 2025 Economic Package "8+4+5" launched by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. The program targets Diploma (D1-D4) and Bachelor’s degree (S1) graduates who have graduated within the last year.
The timeline for the first batch is as follows:
October 1–7, 2025: Registration for internship organizers and submission of vacancies.
October 7–12, 2025: Participant registration and position selection.
October 13–14, 2025: Selection by companies and announcement of participants by Kemnaker.
October 15, 2025 – April 15, 2026: The six-month internship period.
Registration and program management are conducted through the SIAPKerja account via maganghub.kemnaker.go.id. Prospective intern data that meet the requirements will be cross-matched with data from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.
