TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Oklahoma City Thunder have been crowned the 2025 NBA Champions after defeating the Indiana Pacers with a 103-91 victory in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. This historic win, secured on Monday morning, June 23, 2025, marks the Thunder's first title since the franchise relocated from Seattle in 2008.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP), leading the charge with an impressive 29 points and 12 assists in front of a roaring home crowd at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
The Indiana Pacers' star player, Tyrese Haliburton, sustained an injury to his right leg in the first quarter of NBA Finals Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Haliburton, who had reportedly been playing through a right calf muscle injury, fell without any contact from another player with 4 minutes and 55 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
He immediately hit the floor, visibly frustrated and clutching his leg, unable to hide the pain and disappointment. Unable to bear weight on his right leg, he was assisted off the court and taken directly to the locker room for further examination. Teammates, coaching staff, and the medical team surrounded him on the court before he was eventually carried off.
Prior to the injury, Haliburton had already scored nine points, all from three-pointers. This injury dealt a devastating blow to Indiana, as Haliburton had been the indispensable engine of their offense throughout the playoffs. He is renowned for his consistent game vision, shooting accuracy, and his role as the primary play creator.
Throughout the season, Haliburton was a pivotal player for the Pacers, averaging over 20 points and 10 assists per game and guiding the team to their first NBA Finals appearance since 2000.
