TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's alliance of online motorcycle taxi drivers (online ojek), Garda Indonesia, said that leaders of the House of Representatives (DPR) and Commission V have agreed on the fare cut percentage for drivers following an audience held on Wednesday.
Raden Igun Wicaksono, Chairman of Garda Indonesia, stated that during the meeting with Deputy Speakers Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal, Saan Mustopa, and Commission V leaders, it was decided to set the fare cut for operators at 10 percent.
“In addition to the fare cut agreement, we also discussed including clear regulations for online motorcycle and food delivery fares,” Igun said. “These provisions will be incorporated into a Presidential Regulation, making the rules comprehensive, firm, and clear for all parties.”
On the Online Transportation Bill, Igun noted that the DPR informed drivers that the government would draft a Presidential Regulation to ensure protection and legal certainty for online motorcycle drivers. “This is a victory for drivers,” he said.
Tempo reached out to Deputy Speakers Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal and Saan Mustopa via WhatsApp for confirmation, but they had not responded as of publication.
Earlier, the alliance had presented seven demands during demonstrations. These included immediate inclusion of the Online Transportation Bill in the National Legislation Program, a non-negotiable 10 percent operator fare cut, and driver-friendly regulations for delivery and food fares.
Other demands called for an investigative audit of the 5 percent deduction taken by operators, elimination of harmful app features such as queuing, slot systems, multi-orders, and paid memberships, and the replacement of the Minister of Transportation with a pro-driver official.
The alliance also urged the Chief of Indonesian National Police to thoroughly investigate the August 28, 2025 tragedy that resulted in the deaths of drivers Affan Kurniawan in Jakarta and Rusdamdiyansah in Makassar.
