Over 7,500 Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Depart for Saudi Arabia on Friday

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Director General of Hajj and Umrah Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, said Hajj pilgrims will start leaving for Saudi Arabia tomorrow, Friday, May 2, 2025.

The initial phase of departure will see 7,514 people from 19 embarkation points across the country, bound for Medina. "They will depart for Saudi Arabia at 12:45 a.m. local time, on a Garuda Indonesia aircraft,” said Hilman in a press conference at the Pondok Indah Hajj Dormitory, East Jakarta, on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

This year, Hilman explained, Indonesia will send off more than 200,000 hajj pilgrims, with 201,063 regular pilgrims, 1,572 regional hajj officers, 685 guides in the Hajj and Umrah Worship Guidance Group (KBIHU), and 17,680 special hajj pilgrims.

According to Hilman, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims have started to enter the embarkation dormitories since this morning and will be gradually departing until the peak of the hajj worship in June. Hilman ensured that all preparations for departure and reception of the hajj pilgrims had been completed.

"Our hajj officers in Indonesia and in Saudi Arabia are ready to provide the best services, not only in terms of accommodation, transportation, and catering, but also in worship guidance and consultation," he said.

In addition, the PHU Directorate General has issued the 1446 Hijri Hajj Travel Plan (RPH) to ensure that all hajj worship activities run smoothly.

Below is the 2025 Hajj travel plan by the Ministry of Religious Affairs:

  • May 1, 2025, hajj pilgrims start entering the hajj dormitories
  • May 2 to 16, 2025, departure of the first wave of Hajj pilgrims to Medina
  • May 11 to 25, 2025, departure of first wave of Hajj pilgrims to Mecca from Medina
  • May 17 to 31, 2025, departure of the second wave of Hajj pilgrims to Jeddah
  • May 31, 2025, closing date of KAAIA Jeddah 
  • June 4, 2025, departure of Hajj Pilgrims from Mecca to Arafah
  • June 5, 2025, wukuf at Arafah
  • June 6, 2025, Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri
  • June 7, 2025, the first tasyrik day
  • June 8, 2025, the second tasyrik day
  • June 9, 2025, the third tasyrik day
  • June 11 to 25, 2025, the first wave of Hajj pilgrims return to Indonesia from Jeddah Airport
  • June 11, 2025, the beginning of the arrival of the first wave of Hajj pilgrims in Indonesia
  • June 18 to July 2, 2025, departure of the second wave of Hajj pilgrims from Mecca to Medina
  • June 26, 2025, Islamic New Year 1447 hijri
  • June 26 to July 10, 2025, the second wave of Hajj pilgrims return to Indonesia from Medina
