Indonesia's PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Prabumulih Field recorded an increase in oil and gas production (migas) in the first semester of 2025. The oil production at the field reached 2,468 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), skyrocketing by 486.2 percent compared to the initial target of 507.6 BOPD.
General Manager of Zone 4 at PEP, Djudjuwanto, explained that this achievement was obtained after drilling the LBK-INF16 well in the Lembak area. Not only did oil production increase, but natural gas also experienced a sharp surge to 2,806 MMSCFD, marking a 935.3 percent increase from the initial target of 0.3 MMSCFD.
Djudjuwanto stated that all of these production results were achieved with a 0 percent watercut, indicating optimal and efficient production quality. "We are targeting Prabumulih Field's production to reach 12,000 BOPD this year. The achievement from the LBK-INF16 well is a real testament to the spirit and hard work of our team," Djudjuwanto said, as quoted in a written statement on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
He added that the successful drilling of the LBK-029 well was conducted safely with the Rig PDSI 29.3 / D1500-E, without any work accidents, while recording 50,000 safe working hours. The drilling process even finished 14 days ahead of schedule, without any Non-Productive Time (NPT), and was able to save costs up to US$ 2 million from the initial budget.
Djudjuwanto emphasized that this achievement was not just a technical feat, but a tangible manifestation of PT Pertamina EP Prabumulih Field's commitment to maintaining national energy sovereignty. "With high production, maximum efficiency, and preserved work safety, Pertamina continues to move towards a future of independent, sustainable, and secure energy for Indonesia," he added.
Meanwhile, this year, Pertamina EP is also increasing the potential for oil and gas production at the Akasia Bagus Field, West Java. One of the strategic projects being worked on is the Akasia Bagus Gathering Station (SP ABG) Stage 1.
The SP ABG facility is designed to significantly increase the capacity for processing oil and gas, from the previous 1,750 barrels of liquid per day (BLPD) and 3 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) to 9,000 BLPD and 22 MMSCFD.
General Manager of Zone 7 Region Jawa at Pertamina EP, Afwan Daroni, previously explained that the SP ABG development project would be equipped with various modern support facilities, including a CO Removal Package based on the amine system (MDEA), Gas Dehydration Unit, and Thermal Oxidation (TOX). This technology can reduce the CO, H2S, and water content to meet the standards in the Gas Sales Agreement (PJBG) applicable in the West Java region.
"This facility will ensure that the produced gas meets the agreed specifications, while also improving operational efficiency and safety," Afwan said, as quoted in a written statement on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
