Pokemon Legends: Z-A to be Released in October on Switch and Switch 2

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Pokemon Company International has announced that the game Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be released in mid-October. The game will be available on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

The announcement is accompanied by a new video detailing the game leak. New merchandise featuring Mega Evolution has also been released at the Pokemon Center for fans who are gearing up to welcome the latest game prepared by Pokemon for this summer season.

Pre-orders for this game are set to open starting June 5, 2025, coinciding with the launch schedule of the Nintendo Switch 2. The Pokemon Company International stated on its website on Thursday, May 28, 2025, 'Players who purchase the physical or digital version of Pokemon Legends: Z-A for the Nintendo Switch will have the option to upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by purchasing the upgrade package.'

The game played on this handheld console will offer an open world experience and battling with other Pokemon characters. The game setting is in Lumiose City, which is the same setting as Pokemon X and Y, produced in 2013.

Quoting from The Verge, the release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be the first major release of this game franchise since 2022, which began with Pokemon Legends: Arceus and concluded with Pokemon Violet and Scarlet. "Both were released on the Switch. The Nintendo hybrid console was also home to 'Sword and Shield', which was launched in 2019."
