TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Manager of Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, confirmed that a power outage on Friday evening, October 10, 2025, disrupted both international and domestic flight operations.
The incident forced adjustments to 42 international and 32 domestic flights, including delays and rescheduling.
Syaugi expressed his apologies to passengers, airline partners, and the public for the inconvenience.
“When the blackout occurred, our technical team immediately conducted inspections and mitigation efforts to ensure the safety, security, and continuity of services across the airport,” he said in a written statement on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
The outage lasted just over an hour, from 06:13 PM to 07:18 PM Central Indonesia Time (WITA). Some affected flights were rescheduled for the following day, early on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
“Based on our monitoring from Saturday morning through the afternoon, all flight activities, passenger services, and vehicle movements in the pick-up and drop-off areas have returned to normal,” Syaugi added.
He also extended appreciation to all parties who assisted in managing operations during the disruption.
“We are committed to conducting a thorough evaluation and continuously improving the reliability of our facilities to prevent similar incidents in the future,” he said.
Meanwhile, the General Manager of PLN Bali Distribution Main Unit, Eric Rossi Priyo Nugroho, confirmed that technical teams and supporting equipment were deployed immediately to restore power at the airport. He assured that Ngurah Rai Airport has since resumed normal operations.
“From a system perspective, PLN’s electricity supply has been stable since Friday night. However, as a preventive measure, our teams continue to inspect and monitor conditions in the field,” Eric said on Saturday, October 11, 2025, as quoted by Antara.
