TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto stated that the total state losses resulting from illegal tin mining activities in the PT Timah region of the Bangka Belitung Islands amounted to approximately Rp300 trillion. This loss is the result of the actions of six illegal mining companies in the PT Timah area.

"Imagine the state's losses from just these six companies, total state losses of Rp300 trillion. State losses have reached Rp300 trillion," said Prabowo in a press release in the Bangka Belitung Islands as seen on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel on Monday, October 8, 2025.

The head of state believes that the government could save hundreds of trillions in the future. According to Prabowo, this action also proves the government's serious commitment to eradicating smuggling, illegal mining, and all other law violations. "We uphold and we don't care who's here," he said.

Prabowo witnessed the handover of state-confiscated goods in the PT Tinindo Internusa area, Bukitintan District, Pangkal Pinang City, Bangka Belitung Islands, on Monday, October 6, 2025. The confiscated goods included six smelters and several assets from six tin mining companies that were conducting illegal activities in the PT Timah area. PT Timah was handed over these assets.

The Attorney General's Office had confiscated these assets. Prabowo stated that the confiscated assets had a value of Rp6 to 7 trillion.

The former defense minister mentioned that the smelter area has the potential for rare earth deposits containing monazite, a mineral used in high-technology and energy industries. Prabowo said that the rare earth had not been processed.

He estimated the value of these materials could be greater than the value of the confiscated assets. One ton of monazite could be up to US$200,000.

"One ton of monazite can have a value of hundreds of thousands of dollars, reaching up to US$200,000. In fact, tens of thousands of tons were found, approaching 4,000 tons in just one company," said Prabowo.

The Presidential Secretariat reported that some of the confiscated items included a large and diverse amount of assets, such as:

- 108 heavy equipment units;

- 99.04 tons of Sn crystal products (cristalyzer);

- 94.47 tons of crude tin in 112 plots/blocks;

- Aluminum 15 bundles (15.11 tons) and 10 jumbo bags (3.15 tons);

- Rfe tin metal 29 bundles (29 tons);

- Employee mess 1 unit;

- 53 vehicles;

- 22 plots of land measuring 238,848 square meters;

- 195 mining tools;

- 680,687.6 kg of tin metal;

- 6 smelter units, as well as

- Cash deposited into the state treasury amounting to Rp202,701,078,370, US$3,156,053, 53,036,000 yen, SG$524,501, 765 Euros, 100,000 Korean won, and AU$1,840.
