Roblox Denies Louisiana's Child Exploitation Allegations

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Roblox denies the allegations made by the Louisiana Attorney General regarding the exploitation of children on its online gaming platform.

Through its official website, Roblox stated that it continues to strive to block criminal activities and enhance moderation approaches.

"Any assertion that Roblox would intentionally put our users at risk of exploitation is simply untrue," the statement uploaded on Friday, August 15, 2025, read.

The company mentioned that it continues to innovate in terms of safety measures and has launched a new protection system. Last year, Roblox introduced over 40 new features to protect younger users and provide parental controls. They claimed to have updated parental controls, tightened default settings for users under 13, and introduced new content maturity labels.

Through its statement, the company mentioned introducing new age estimation technology to help confirm the age of users through simple and fast video selfies. They also stated that Roblox started as a platform for children and has strict security features and policies.

"This includes rigorous text chat filters that block inappropriate language and attempts to direct users under 13 off the platform or solicit personal information," the statement read.

Users under 13 are also unable to direct message others outside of the game. Sharing direct images between users is also prohibited.

Roblox also mentioned having advanced AI models and a large trained team to protect users and monitor inappropriate content. For inappropriate content, the company mentioned taking swift action to address violating material, and accounts are deleted through AI scans, user tagging, and user monitoring.

"We dedicate substantial resources to help detect and prevent inappropriate content and behavior," the company said.

Roblox also stated that it has collaborated with law enforcement, government agencies, mental health organizations, and parental advocacy groups to provide resources for parents and ensure user safety. One example is direct communication with various organizations such as the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

"We proactively report potentially harmful content to NCMEC, which is the designated reporting entity for the public and electronic service providers regarding instances of suspected child sexual exploitation," Roblox stated.
