TEMPO.COJakarta - Demonstrations that escalated into riots at the Police Mobile Brigade or Brimob Batalyon C Pelopor Solo headquarters have caused an estimated Rp13.8 billion in damage to public facilities.

The most severe damage was to the Solo City Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) building, which was set on fire early on Saturday, August 30, 2025. Mayor Respati Ardi announced the total estimated cost of the damage, which includes CCTV and other public and social facilities, during a press conference at Sebelas Maret University on Monday, September 1, 2025.

"The data from the Regional Secretary shows that the damage is estimated to be around Rp13.8 billion," he said, noting that the amount is equivalent to building a new school. "We are concerned about the loss and hope we can recover as soon as possible."

To ensure public safety, Mayor Respati stated that he has been monitoring the situation around Solo around the clock using a handy talkie. He has asked the Regional Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) to patrol several areas. Other departments, including the Department of Transportation, Fire Department, and Youth Affairs, are also on duty to ensure community safety.

More than 20 people were injured during the protests from Friday to Saturday. Eight are still being treated in hospitals, while 19 have been released. Mayor Respati and his wife visited some of the victims at Muhammadiyah Hospital last Saturday night and assured the public that Solo is safe. "There is no need to panic," he said.

The city has also appointed the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) as a control center with posts, fire extinguishers, hydrants, and fire trucks on standby. Additionally, the Solo City Government has formed the Solo City Residents' Movement (GWS), a task force that involves youth groups and local residents.

"This isn't just about the authorities, but about residents taking care of each other. We want Solo to remain peaceful," he explained.

Despite the recent unrest, the mayor confirmed that public events like Car Free Day (CFD) and cultural carnivals will not be canceled. "In fact, these activities signify that Solo remains friendly and open," he said.

He urged residents to remain calm and not be provoked, expressing his hope that these measures will help the city recover and allow the community to resume activities safely.
