TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Department recorded that a total of 180 units of nutrition fulfillment services (SPPG) or free nutritious meal (MBG) kitchens operating in Jakarta do not possess a certificate of hygiene and sanitation suitability (SLHS). The head of the Regional Health Data and Information Technology Center, Verry Adrian, stated that hundreds of kitchens providing MBG are still in the process of meeting the requirements to obtain the eligibility certificate.
Verry detailed that 149 kitchens have undergone environmental health inspections (IKL), 25 kitchens are undergoing food laboratory examinations, and a total of 3,142 kitchen staff have received food handler training out of the target of 8,000 SPPG workers in Jakarta. "This means that most of the kitchens have fulfilled important stages in obtaining the SLHS issuance, while the rest are still in process," Verry said in a written message on Monday, October 6, 2025.
For acceleration, Verry mentioned that the Jakarta Health Department, through the health sub-departments and community health centers (puskesmas), has conducted simultaneous IKL since September 29, 2025. The Health Department also held ready-to-eat food safety training for all food handlers in all SPPGs.
The local government aims for all kitchens to meet the certification eligibility requirements as soon as possible so they can obtain SLHS by the end of October 2025 at the latest. "In accordance with the central government's target," he said.
SLHS is a written recognition from the health department that a business has met standard quality and hygienic health and sanitation requirements. As part of food safety assurance, all catering services that cook more than 750 servings per day are required to have this certificate.
Initially, the National Nutrition Body (BGN) did not require SPPG to have this letter when registering as BGN partners. However, the government later mandated that all kitchens obtain this certification after more than 6,000 MBG beneficiaries were poisoned.
Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan stated that cases of MBG poisoning will continue if the eligibility certificate is not met. "Every SPPG must have SLHS, it's a must," Zulhas said in a press conference for extraordinary event handling (KLB) on the MBG priority program at the Ministry of Health office, Jakarta, on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
On the same occasion, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated that he had asked all Health Departments to expedite the issuance process of SLHS for MBG kitchens. His goal is for all 8,583 operating SPPGs to obtain SLHS by the end of the month. "It is expected that everything will be completed within a month," he said.
