Taylor Swift's "The Life of a Showgirl" Sets a New Record in Spotify

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Taylor Swift shows no signs of slowing down her reign over the music world. Her 12th studio album, "The Life of a Showgirl", has just been officially recognized as Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2025 so far. In just 11 hours after release, “The Life of a Showgirl” earned a staggering 249.9 million streams. 

With this release, Taylor Swift currently holds the record for the top 19 biggest debut songs of all time on Spotify. It spans three of her albums: 12 from “The Life of a Showgirl,” five from “The Tortured Poets Department,” and two from “Midnights.”

Even more impressively, "The Life of a Showgirl" now ranks as the second-biggest album debut of all time on the platform, sitting just behind Swift’s own 2024 record-breaking release, "The Tortured Poets Department.”

Taylor Swift’s Spotify Record-Breaking Albums (So Far)

As reported by Yahoo!, Swift owns the four biggest album debuts in Spotify history:

• “The Tortured Poets Department” - 314M

• “The Life of a Showgirl” - 249.9M

• “Midnights” - 185M

• “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” - 176M

In addition to the album’s already impressive achievements, Spotify also celebrated its lead single, "The Fate of Ophelia,” which alone earned 30.9 million streams on release day. Now recorded as the most-streamed song in a single day in Spotify history, the streaming platform marked the moment with a fitting Instagram caption: "The Life of a Record-Breaker.” 

And if its momentum continues, the lead single could potentially challenge Miley Cyrus’s Grammy-winning hit "Flowers" for the most-streamed song in a week, according to Variety.
