1. India Defeat Indonesia 2-1 in U-23 Friendly Ahead of 2025 SEA Games
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian U-23 national team fell 1–2 to India in a friendly match held at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday, October 10, 2025. The game served as part of both teams’ preparations for the upcoming 2025 SEA Games.
India struck early through Suhail Ahmad Bhat, who netted twice in the 5th and 26th minutes. Indonesia managed to pull one back before halftime, with Dony Tri Pamungkas scoring in the 41st minute after a neat pass from Toni Firmansyah.
Despite a better-organized second-half performance, the Garuda Muda squad were unable to find an equalizer. Their defense tightened after the break, and the midfield began to connect more fluidly, but a string of missed chances denied them a comeback.
2. Rupiah Dips Marginally as US Shutdown Extends into Ninth Day
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The rupiah closed slightly weaker against the US dollar on Friday, depreciating by 2 points or 0.01 percent to Rp16,570 per US dollar, compared to Rp16,568 the previous day.
Bank Indonesia’s Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (JISDOR) also slipped, settling at Rp16,585 per US dollar from Rp16,534 on Thursday.
Currency analyst and Director of Laba Forexindo Berjangka, Ibrahim Assuabi, said the rupiah’s weakness was driven by market anxiety over the prolonged United States government shutdown, which has entered its ninth day.
3. Indonesian Gov't Assures Cesium-137 Case Won't Affect Shrimp Exports to U.S.
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Wahyu Sakti Trenggono, has assured that the cesium-137 contamination case involving Indonesian shrimp exports will not affect the country’s access to international markets.
Trenggono said the government is in close communication with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after the agency detected traces of the radioactive substance in several shrimp containers shipped from Indonesia.
“We are in intensive talks with the U.S. FDA and continue to negotiate. I don’t see any major issue. The key is to ensure that all shrimp exports are strictly monitored and well-controlled,” Trenggono said during an event at the Jakarta Convention Center on Friday, October 10, 2025.
