1. Indonesia Joins 23 Nations in Condemning Israeli Strikes on Iran
Indonesia has joined 23 countries in a joint statement strongly condemning Israel's attacks on Iran that have been ongoing since June 13, 2025. The statement, initiated by Egypt, marks a strong regional solidarity amidst unprecedented escalation of Middle East conflict.
The coalition of 23 countries includes Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Libya, Sudan, and Somalia. Additionally, it involves Algeria, Djibouti, Comoros, Chad, Gambia, Mauritania, and Brunei Darussalam. In the statement made on June 17 and released online, including on the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, they unanimously reject Israel's military aggression, considered a violation of international law.
2. Jay Idzes Attracts Growing Interest in Serie A Transfer Market
Udinese has entered the race to sign Jay Idzes, captain of the Indonesian national team, during the summer transfer window. The Italian Serie A club is revamping its defense as part of the preparations for the 2025-2026 season.
Jay Idzes has become the primary target to reinforce the back line, potentially replacing Jaka Bijol, who has been heavily linked with a move. Idzes is seen as an ideal successor to Bijol, especially due to his background as a midfielder, making him adept at building attacks from the back line.
Citing from the Italian media outlet Messaggero Veneto, Idzes has long been the top choice to replace Bijol, who is nearing an exit from the club due to interest from AC Milan and Leeds United.
3. Indonesia Advises Against Traveling to 5 Middle East Countries Amid Tensions
The government has advised Indonesian citizens against traveling to Iran, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen. This request was conveyed by Judha Nugraha, the director for Citizen Protection at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the escalation of the Israel-Iran war.
"We strongly urge to postpone such trips," Judha said in a video statement on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
Judha called on Indonesian citizens seeking to travel to the Middle East to check their flight schedules with their respective airlines. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also asked Indonesian citizens to disrupt flight schedules.
