The rupiah exchange rate is predicted to weaken in the range of Rp16,870 to Rp16,930 per US Dollar on Friday, April 25, 2025. In yesterday's afternoon trading, the rupiah closed weaker by 1 point at Rp16,872.5 per US Dollar.
"The rupiah fluctuated but closed weaker," said Currency Observer Ibrahim Assuaibi in a written statement on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projected Indonesia's economic growth at 4.7 percent in 2025 and 2026. This is down from the January 2025 projection of 5.1 percent. "This projection is stated in the World Economic Outlook report edition of April 2025, which analyzes the impact of the United States' tariff adjustments," said Ibrahim.
2. Indonesian Robotics Team Breaks into Top 40 at First Tech Challenge 2025
Indonesian robotic team, Go2STEAM from Madrasah Technonatura Yogyakarta (MTY), has entered the top 40 in the First Tech Challenge (FTC) 2025 in Houston, Texas, United States. Held on April 16-19, the international event was attended by 256 teams from various countries.
According to a statement from KJRI Houston, the First Tech Challenge (FTC) is considered one of the most prestigious robotics competitions for the 12- to 18-year-old age group. This event provides a platform for young talents worldwide to showcase their skills in three categories: elementary school, junior/senior high school, and college. The total number of participants this year reached more than 4,000 students.
3. Indonesia to Attend First BRICS Meeting as Full Member
Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono will attend the Foreign Ministers Meeting (FMM) of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) Plus in mid-2025.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Rolliansyah Soemirat said this will be Indonesia's first BRICS meeting after being formally accepted as a new member.
"This will be the first BRICS’ Foreign Ministers Meeting attended by the Indonesian Foreign Minister following our recent entry as a new member," Rolliansyah said in a press conference on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
