TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A U.S. Congress member, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez opined on Saturday night, June 21, that President Donald Trump has exposed himself to potential impeachment following the attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.
Earlier, Trump announced that the United States had dropped bombs at several sites in Iran. This action was immediately characterized by numerous U.S. lawmakers as unconstitutional, while international observers also widely condemned the President's decision to target the country's nuclear sites.
Now, one of the most prominent Democratic members of Congress has raised the specter of impeachment, as reported by Raw Story.
"The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers," she wrote.
"He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations," she added.

She concluded, "It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment."
Trump's actions also sparked anger from senior Democrats, who reported not being briefed before the attack. In contrast, only Republican members of Congress were notified, according to CNN.
Jim Himes, a senior Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, was not briefed before the U.S. attack on Iran, even though his Republican counterpart on the panel, Chairperson Rick Crawford, had contacted the White House, a source familiar with the matter revealed.
Similarly, Senator Mark Warner, a senior Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, was also not briefed, while Republican Chairperson Tom Cotton was, according to a separate source familiar with the matter.
Both Democrats are part of the "Gang of Eight," a bipartisan group that typically receives briefings before significant U.S. military involvement.
The Gang of Eight includes the leaders of the House and Senate from both parties, as well as the top-ranking members of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees.
Republican leaders in the Gang of Eight, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, both received briefings beforehand, a source familiar with the matter confirmed.
House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Majority Leader Tom Emmer released statements praising President Donald Trump's attack on Iran. Johnson explicitly stated this action aligned with an "America First" policy.
"The military operations in Iran should serve as a clear reminder to our adversaries and allies that President Trump means what he says. The President gave Iran’s leader every opportunity to make a deal, but Iran refused to commit to a nuclear disarmament agreement," Johnson said in a post on X.
Emmer echoed Trump's statement announcing the attack in a social media X post, declaring, "NOW TIME FOR PEACE." He added, "A nuclear Iran posed a threat to the Middle East and to the world. @POTUS has been consistent that this dangerous regime should NEVER possess a nuclear weapon. He was right then, and he is right today: NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE."
