TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - United States (US) President Donald Trump said the that the US is "slowly but surely" getting closer to a very good deal with Iran, but if that doesn't happen, the US will return to military operations.
"If you're going to be in a hurry, you are not going to make a good deal. And slowly but surely, we're getting, I think, what we want. And if we do not get what we want, we are going to end it a different way," Trump said in an interview with his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, on Fox News, as cited by Antara.
On February 28, the US and Israel began attacking targets in Iran, including Tehran, killing more than 3,000 people and causing extensive damage to infrastructure.
The two warring parties, Washington and Tehran, declared a ceasefire on April 8.
Subsequent talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, ended inconclusively. Although there were no reports of resumption of hostilities, the US began imposing a blockade on Iranian ports.
