Trump Warns Iran of 'Decapitation' Unless Nuclear Deal Is Reached

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – US President Donald Trump warned Iran that a US military blockade would remain in place until Tehran either reached a new agreement with Washington or accepted what he described as "total surrender," even as both sides offered conflicting accounts over whether negotiations are underway.

As reported by DW, speaking at the White House, Trump said a new round of talks with Iran was scheduled for Monday after he decided to hold off on further military strikes.

"We are talking right now," Trump told reporters, describing the negotiations as Iran's "last chance" to reach an agreement.

Trump said he agreed to continue diplomatic efforts at the request of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and other regional partners. However, Iran's Foreign Ministry denied that any negotiations with Washington were taking place.

The US president also intensified his rhetoric, warning that Iran faced a "last chance before decapitation" if it failed to sign what he called "a good document."

The comments echoed Trump's earlier warning that Iran could face renewed attacks on its energy infrastructure, although he later suggested the framework for a possible agreement was already taking shape.

Trump Criticizes Iran Over Strait of Hormuz Plan

Trump also accused Iran's leadership of acting in bad faith after Tehran announced plans to work with neighboring Oman on a temporary shipping corridor to ease vessel congestion in the Strait of Hormuz.

"Iranian Leadership is unbelievably duplicitous," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

He accused Tehran of privately requesting talks while publicly insisting it was only dealing with Oman.

According to Trump, the Strait of Hormuz is already under the effective control of the US Navy, allowing Washington to regulate maritime traffic through one of the world's most important oil shipping routes.

"Nothing gets through to Iran, unless we want it to, and nothing will get through, unless a Deal, or Total Surrender, is accomplished," Trump wrote.

He also reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.

Iran Pursues Shipping Route With Oman

Iranian authorities said they were coordinating with Oman to establish a temporary shipping route for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

The announcement came as the waterway remains under heightened security following weeks of regional tensions that disrupted commercial shipping.

Separately, two tankers carrying Saudi crude oil reportedly departed the Red Sea, highlighting continued efforts by Gulf producers to maintain energy exports despite the regional uncertainty.

Gaza Negotiations Also Continue

The developments came as Trump's Board of Peace issued a separate statement on the war in Gaza following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The board said a full Israeli military withdrawal beyond the so-called Yellow Line would occur only after Hamas completed the dismantling of its weapons.

"We note that the full withdrawal of the IDF beyond the Yellow Line will take place only once decommissioning is complete, as Hamas committed to the mediators," the board said in a statement posted on X.

Israel's government later stressed that the version of the proposal circulating publicly did not fully reflect its position.

Prime Minister Netanyahu's office said Israel continued to demand concrete steps toward Hamas' disarmament before agreeing to a broader withdrawal.
