TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - TWICE member Chaeyoung has announced her departure from long-time agency JYP Entertainment after 14 years, while assuring fans that she will continue her active involvement with the nine-member K-pop group.
The 27-year-old singer shared the news directly with fans on her personal Instagram account on Thursday, August 13. In her post, Chaeyoung expressed enthusiasm for her next steps as a solo artist under her personal concept, "Lil Fantasy."
"I wanted to share this with ONCE first, my family who has always been by my side," Chaeyoung wrote, as reported by Soompi. "I’m so excited to step into a new chapter and bring my new 'LIL FANTASY,' a world where I can explore and build my music."
Addressing her long career with JYP Entertainment, Chaeyoung expressed deep gratitude to the company's staff and her fellow bandmates for their unwavering support throughout her 14 years with the label. She emphasized that leaving the agency would not affect her role in TWICE.
"Most of all, please know that nothing changes with TWICE," Chaeyoung stated. "Everything I’ve received is thanks to my time as TWICE, which will always be my roots."
According to Yonhap news agency, Chaeyoung has not yet revealed details regarding her new agency, noting that discussions remain ongoing. Her departure marks the latest individual agency shift within the group, following bandmate Jeongyeon, who recently signed with Varo Entertainment.
TWICE, which debuted under JYP Entertainment in 2015, is currently navigating contract renewal negotiations for both individual and group activities.
In a separate development, media reports emerged today, alleging that Chaeyoung and singer Zion.T recently ended their romantic relationship, which they publicly confirmed in April 2024.
Responding to inquiries about the reported breakup, representatives from both Chaeyoung's and Zion.T's agencies offered brief statements to South Korean media outlets, as cited by Soompi: "It is difficult to confirm as it is the artist’s private life."
