TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As the end of 2025 approaches, tourists are starting to plan their 2026 vacations. However, the main challenges are often the crowds at popular destinations, scorching heat, long lines, and atmosphere, which can turn a beautiful experience into a tense one.
Travel expert Yasmin Ikrami suggests that a pleasant vacation focuses on what is truly important for travelers, making it feel easy, meaningful, and unforgettable. "It’s about enjoying the journey fully, at your own pace," she said as quoted from Hindustan Times.
It's not just about following existing travel guides or plans, but choosing what is important and suitable for travelers. "A truly stress-free luxury vacation comes from careful planning, attention to detail, and the willingness to slow down," said the founder and CEO of JourneyLabel, a luxury travel company.
Yasmin Ikrami shares important tips, such as planning and organizing health experiences.
5 Tips for a Stress-Free Vacation
1. Choose the transition season
The transition season, just before or after the peak season, is ideal for avoiding crowds and enjoying a more relaxed pace. During this time, the weather is usually more comfortable, there is more availability of accommodations, and the atmosphere of the destination feels more relaxed compared to busy months such as summer or the end of the year.
2. Explore beyond the main tourist areas
Unforgettable experiences are often hidden, such as nearby small towns, lesser-known local environments, emerging new regions, or quieter cultural sites. For example, instead of jostling on the iconic beach, visit a small coastal village, or choose a local craft village over a large shopping district.
3. Adjust the daily schedule
Most tourist sites peak in crowds between late morning and afternoon. To enjoy quiet streets, soft light, and a peaceful environment, it's better to start activities early in the morning or in the afternoon and evening.
4. Utilize technology tools
Technological advancements make it easier for tourists to avoid crowded areas in real-time through apps that display visitor traffic data, peak hours, queue lengths, and busiest locations. Keep all reservations, tickets, and confirmations in a digital folder to avoid last-minute stress.
5. Personalize the travel experience
Designing itineraries based on personal interests naturally steers one away from crowded, mass-tourism circuits. This approach can include leisurely walks in nature, art workshops, culinary routes, hidden cafes, local markets, relaxed travel experiences, or health activities. These kinds of activities usually take place in smaller and less crowded places, allowing for deeper connections and more meaningful moments.
