58 Indonesians Targeted in US Immigration Raid, 6 Deported

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 58 Indonesian nationals have been affected by the strict immigration policy implemented by U.S. President Donald Trump's administration earlier this year. Six of them have already been deported or returned to Indonesia.

The Director of the Protection of Indonesian Nationals at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Judha Nugraha, stated in a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday, June 12, 2025, that the Indonesian government has provided consular assistance and disseminated information regarding "know your rights' so that Indonesian citizens understand their rights within the U.S. legal system.

"Even though they are subject to legal enforcement processes, their rights are still protected under the U.S. legal system. Representatives will provide assistance to ensure these rights remain protected," said Judha.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry has advised all Indonesians in the U.S. to continue to enhance their security, avoid crowded locations and demonstration hotspots. Judha emphasized the importance of understanding their rights to affected Indonesians, including the right to communicate with the nearest Indonesian representatives.

For Indonesians planning to travel to the U.S., the Foreign Affairs Ministry urges them to enter with the appropriate visa and anticipate a much stricter immigration inspection process upon arrival in the U.S.

This strict immigration policy is part of the Trump administration's agenda that prioritizes immigration law enforcement, including conducting raids on immigrants suspected of violating their immigration status.
