TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Regular walking can be an easy way to keep your body healthy. Apart from being practical and easy to do, there are numerous benefits of regular walking that you can obtain. Alodokter shares 6 benefits of walking that you can experience when done regularly.

1. Weight Loss

Losing weight doesn't have to involve intense exercise right away. You can start with regular walking. Brisk walking for 30 minutes can burn around 150 calories in your body. Burning calories will trim excess fat tissue in your body, resulting in weight loss. For an optimum benefit, it is also recommended to maintain a healthy diet.

2. Maintaining Heart Health

Any type of exercise, including regular walking, is beneficial for maintaining heart health. When you move regularly or walk often, blood circulation in your body will improve. Regular exercise is also good for lowering blood pressure and cholesterol. By regularly moving and walking, your risk of heart disease will decrease.

3. Preventing Diabetes

Regular walking can also reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. With regular exercise and brisk walking, your body will be more active in processing blood sugar, thus controlling its levels. Some studies also show that people who regularly engage in physical activity or exercise, including walking, have a lower risk of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.

4. Strengthening Bones and Muscles

Regular walking is also beneficial for maintaining bone and muscle strength, especially in the elderly. This good habit can even reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

5. Boosting Immune System

A lack of movement or exercise can weaken your immune system, making you more susceptible to illness. If you feel you don't have enough time to exercise, you can make regular walking a daily routine. Try to make time for a walk, for example in the morning before starting your activities, or in the evening after work, at least for 30 minutes.

6. Reducing Stress

Stress can arise for various reasons. To prevent it, you can start regularly engaging in walking. When exercising and walking, your body will produce endorphins that can naturally combat stress. Not only managing stress, regular walking can also improve your mood, reduce anxiety and depression, and promote better sleep.

To enliven Jakarta's 498th anniversary, residents of Senayan, South Jakarta, held an event titled Senopati Festival 2 Fun Walk on June 28-29, 2025. The event, supported by Holywings Peduli and The H Club SCBD, was participated by a thousand participants. The event is expected to enliven and commemorate an important milestone for the city of Jakarta, as well as to instill a spirit of togetherness, nationalism, and patriotism among all elements and residents of Senayan.

Senopati Festival 2 Fun Walk started from Jl. Senopati Dalam I towards the SCBD area, continued towards the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform office, and ended back at Jl. Senopati Dalam I. Participants covered a distance of 5 kilometers in the activity.

District Chief of Kebayoran Baru, Achmad Basyaruddin, expressed his gratitude for the smooth and orderly implementation of the event as expected. "In addition to commemorating Jakarta's 498th anniversary, this fun walk event is part of an effort to motivate us all to strengthen our bonds," said Achmad Basyaruddin in a statement received by Tempo on June 29, 2025.

Prior to the fun walk, participants were invited to warm up with a professional instructor-led exercise session to warm up the body and boost energy. There was also free health checks for 100 participants, including blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, uric acid, and complete blood checks by RS Siloam Kelapa Dua, Tangerang. Health checks are expected to serve as an early detection step for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) among Jakarta residents. It is known that non-communicable diseases are one of the main health challenges in the capital city. "Hopefully, this event will bring great benefits to us all," said the Chief Commissioner of Holywings Group, Andrew Susanto.
