TEMPO.CO, Mataram - The body of a Brazilian hiker who fell on Mount Rinjani, Juliana, is scheduled to undergo an autopsy at Bhayangkara Mataram Hospital, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at around 08.00 WITA (Indonesia Central Time). "When it's done, we can send it to Denpasar," said the Acting Secretary of NTB Lalu Moh Faozal, who was met after witnessing the arrival of Juliana's body at RS. Bhayangkara Mataram on Wednesday night, June 25, 2025.
Juliana's body will be sent to Denpasar, Bali, for repatriation to her home country, Brazil. Juliana's body will be escorted to Bali by land after the autopsy. "Because there are no flights from Lombok to Bali. From Bali, it will be taken back to her home country," he said.
Faozal, who is also the official Assistant II of the NTB Regional Secretariat, stated that in the autopsy event on Thursday morning, Juliana's family will attend. They are currently still in Sembalun, East Lombok Regency.
Faozal conveyed that the NTB provincial government will meet Juliana's family's needs in Lombok, from ambulance facilities to transportation. The provincial government sees this as an expression of empathy towards the victim.
The incident of Juliana falling on the slopes of Mount Rinjani occurred on Saturday, June 21, 2025. The search was then carried out until the body was found by a joint SAR team on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at a depth of 600 meters towards the Lost Know Position (LKP).
The joint SAR team, amid unfriendly weather conditions, successfully evacuated Juliana's body even without the assistance of a helicopter. From the Pelawangan post, Juliana's body was carried towards the Rinjani National Park Office (BTNGR), near the entrance to the climbing route.
