Barcelona Thrash Rayo Vallecano 5-2 to Maintain Perfect La Liga Start

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Braces from Raphinha and Lamine Yamal propelled Barcelona to a 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano in a 2026/2027 Spanish League La Liga match at Camp Nou on Tuesday, Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

According to the La Liga website as cited by Antara, Barcelona's other goal came via an own goal from Rayo defender Florian Lejeune, while Sergio Camello scored both goals for the visitors.

The result gives Barcelona a perfect record in their opening three matches, placing them at the top of the standings with nine points—ahead of Real Madrid on goal difference, despite the latter having the same points tally.

Meanwhile, Rayo Vallecano suffered their second defeat of the season; they have collected only one point so far and currently sit in 19th place.

In the match, Rayo stunned Barcelona early on when Camello scored in the 12th minute after receiving a pass from Alvaro Garcia.

Barcelona responded to that counter-attack goal by increasing the pressure. Raphinha nearly equalized two minutes later, but his header from a cross was saved by opposing goalkeeper Dani Cardenas.

Raphinha finally got his name on the scoresheet in the 19th minute. Receiving a pass from Xavi Espart inside the penalty area, the Brazilian player beat a defender before firing a shot into the bottom right corner to make it 1-1.

It took Barcelona just two minutes to take the lead. This time, Lamine Yamal scored, unleashing a powerful shot from just outside the penalty area after receiving the ball from Marc Bernal. The score became 2-1.

Barcelona appeared to have scored a third goal just before halftime through Jules Kounde, but it was disallowed after VAR ruled there was an offside in the build-up.

Barcelona's third goal arrived in the 51st minute. Anthony Gordon cut into the penalty area and played a cutback that Florian Lejeune misjudged, resulting in an own goal. Barcelona took a 3-1 lead.

Rayo refused to give up. Eight minutes later, Camello scored again to narrow the deficit to 3-2, connecting with a corner kick to head the ball into the Barcelona net.

The visitors even had a chance to equalize; Joan Garcia denied Fran Perez, while Camello failed to capitalize on the rebound.

Barcelona extended their lead through a 71st-minute goal from Raphinha, assisted by Anthony Gordon.

Yamal capped off Barcelona's scoring spree with a goal in the 90th minute. Receiving a pass from Karim Adeyemi near the penalty area, the 19-year-old winger fired a shot into the bottom left corner to seal a 5-2 victory for Barcelona.
