TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dubai International Airport was crowned the best airport in the world at the 2025 World Travel Awards in Bahrain on Saturday, December 6, 2025. The airport defeated several competitors, including Changi Airport in Singapore, Hong Kong International Airport, and Muscat International Airport in Oman.
The 1,173-hectare airport is one of the busiest in the world, connecting the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East with connections to 269 destinations via 101 international airlines. In 2024, the airport welcomed 92.3 million guests, a figure it claims is the highest annual total among airports worldwide.
Best Airport for Customer Experience
Hong Kong was named the world's leading airport for customer experience. The only international airport in Hong Kong spans 1,900 hectares and has been in operation since 1998. The airport is connected to 220 destinations through 120 airlines. Last year, the airport served 39.5 million passengers, or 55 percent of the 2019 figure, a year before the Covid-19 pandemic. The airport has recently improved its services and infrastructure to enhance passenger service quality. The expanded departure lounge of Terminal 2 is expected to open next March. About 15 airlines will operate gradually at the terminal, according to the Hong Kong Airport Authority.

The airport has also launched free city tours for transit tourists spending more than 7 hours, to attract 5.5 million passengers per year. Eligible customers can register for this service three months in advance. The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, honors excellence in the travel and tourism industry and is often referred to as the Oscars of the travel industry. Travel industry professionals and the public judge the annual awards.
Famous for the world's tallest indoor waterfall, Changi Airport is often ranked among the best in the world. However, there have been recent viral complaints from travelers about slow baggage handling. The airport operator issued an apology and promised to ensure a smooth experience for all travelers.
