Fact Check: Fake Video Falsely Claims 11 Nations Aid Sumatra

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A video containing claims that eleven countries sent aid for the disaster in Sumatra circulated on TikTok [archive] on December 5, 2025.

The post shows planes from various countries landing and volunteers processing logistics. The video lists the eleven donor countries, including Iran, Palestine, Malaysia, Japan, Canada, France, the United States, Russia, China, North Korea, and Turkey.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise to God), aid is starting to arrive,” wrote the uploader in the video description.

However, is it true that the video shows aid deliveries from 11 countries to Aceh disaster victims?

FACT CHECK

Tempo verified this narrative using reverse image search, visual analysis, and fake detection tools. The results show that although Malaysia and China sent aid to Aceh, the video is fake. The Indonesian government itself has stated that it has not yet opened foreign aid channels for disaster relief in Sumatra.

Video Verification

Clip 1

At the seventh second, the video shows a claim for aid from Palestine. However, visual inspection reveals a number of irregularities. The eyes of the people in the image only appear as black areas, an anomaly commonly found in content created by imitation intelligence.

Analysis using the Was It AI and AI or NOT detection tools also confirms the presence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) elements in the content snippet.

Clip 2

At the 10-second mark, the video clip was claimed to be aid from Malaysia. Manual analysis revealed anomalies in the form of a widened body proportion and missing hands on the human object. The results of the Was It AI and AI or NOT tools further reinforced that the content was a product of imitation.

Clip 3

At the 30-second mark, the video claims to show assistance from Russia. Tempo found a discrepancy in the writing on the fuselage compared to the original version, which should have read “??????”. According to Russia Beyond, the aircraft is a Russian presidential plane designed around 1980.

Examination using Was It AI and AI or NOT also detected traces of AI in the making of the video.

Clip 4

At the 49th second, the video claims to bring aid from North Korea using Korean Air.  In fact, Korean Air is an airline from South Korea. Detection using the Was It AI and AI or NOT tools indicates that the video was made by AI.

Indonesian Gov't Has Not Opened Up to Foreign Aid

As of this writing, a number of countries, such as Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as well as the United Nations (UN), have expressed their readiness to send aid for disaster relief in Sumatra.

However, the central government has not yet opened the door to foreign aid. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi emphasized that the government is still capable of overcoming all the effects of the disaster in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

“We feel that the government is still capable of overcoming all the problems we are facing,” said Prasetyo at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

Unlike the central government, the governor of Aceh has allowed other countries to assist in disaster recovery in his region. Aceh has received doctors and medicines from Malaysia. In addition, a team from China has also been involved in tracking victims of flash floods and landslides. 

CONCLUSION

Based on verification, Tempo concludes that the narrative in the video showing aid shipments from eleven countries for flood victims in Sumatra is false. The content has been proven to be a product of AI.
