Final Standings of Group C 2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Indonesia Finishes Fourth

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - All matches in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian zone have concluded, including those in Group C. The Australian national team secured a spot in the final round, joining Japan. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has advanced to the fourth round, finishing in third place.

In their last match, in the early hours of Wednesday, June 11, Australia defeated host Saudi Arabia with a score of 2-1. Indonesia suffered a 0-6 defeat at Japan's home ground, while China defeated Bahrain.

These results placed Japan in first place in the final standings of Group C with 23 points, followed by Australia in second with 19 points. Saudi Arabia secured third place with 13 points, leading Indonesia by one point. Japan and Australia have thus secured spots in the final round of qualification. Saudi Arabia and Indonesia will continue their World Cup journey in the fourth qualification round.

From Group A, Iran and Uzbekistan have secured spots in the final round. The United Arab Emirates will compete in the fourth round of qualifiers.

From Group B, South Korea and Jordan have secured spots in the final round. Iraq and Oman will be among Indonesia's potential competitors in the fourth round of qualifiers.

The fourth round of qualifiers will involve six participants, divided into two groups. The champions of each group will advance directly to the final round, while the second-placed teams will compete in playoffs for an additional spot. The fourth-round matches are scheduled to take place in October.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19 across three host countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. This edition of the tournament will feature an expanded format with 48 participating nations, a significant increase from previous World Cups.
