TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Health Ministry noted that 4,535 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) have obtained the hygiene and sanitation compliance certificate (SLHS). "This includes laboratory tests, everything is checked," Deputy Minister of Health Benyamin Paulus Oktavianus said in a press conference marking one year of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program on Thursday, January 8, 2026.
Benyamin stated that the ministry will monitor the MBG project to maintain quality and cleanliness. "So if there is anything that is not good (in terms of quality), then it has to be improved to become good," he said.
Previously, the Health Ministry urged all SPPGs to promptly obtain SLHS. In October 2025, only 193 units held the certificate. This figure accounted for 1.5 percent of the total 10,643 SPPGs across Indonesia.
In implementing the MBG program, the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) initially did not require SPPGs to have SLHS. Later, the government mandated all SPPGs to obtain the certificate after 6,000 people fell ill from MBG poisoning.
On Monday, October 6, 2025, the Health Ministry issued Circular Letter Number HK.02.02/C.I/4202/2025 concerning the Acceleration of SLHS Issuance for SPPGs in the free nutritious meal program.
This circular was addressed to heads of provincial and district/city health offices, as well as the heads of SPPGs throughout Indonesia. In the letter, the Ministry of Health asserted that every SPPG is required to have a valid operating certificate from the local health office.
"It is mandatory to have SLHS as a form of compliance with hygiene and sanitation standards," said the Acting Director General of Disease Prevention of the Ministry of Health, Murti Utami, through an official statement on Monday, October 6, 2025.
