TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the government is preparing the deployment of peacekeepers to Gaza, Palestine, through the International Stabilization Force (ISF).

"Indonesia is indeed preparing [for the deployment]. But the timeline is not yet definitive, albeit the process is underway," said ministry spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

According to him, the deployment of peacekeeping forces to Gaza requires coordination not only from domestic authorities but also foreign parties. "The Foreign Affairs Ministry and all relevant agencies are working together to oversee President [Prabowo's] mandate," he said.

The ministry spokesperson also emphasized that Indonesia is not involved in ISF's disarmament goal, and participation is focused on the humanitarian aspects.

The Times of Israel reported that field preparations have begun for the deployment of Indonesian troops in Gaza, Palestine, as part of the ISF.

Indonesia is preparing the potential deployment of 5,000 to 8,000 troops to Gaza under a Trump-backed peace plan, said the Indonesian Army Chief of Staff, Maruli Simanjuntak, on Monday, after a security meeting with the Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta.

Maruli emphasized that details regarding the strength and deployment location are still being negotiated with relevant parties. However, one brigade, possibly between 5,000 to 8,000 troops, is being prepared to assist Trump's Board of Peace.

Previously, the Israeli media outlet Kan reported that several thousand Indonesian troops are expected to be stationed in Gaza in the coming weeks.

The Indonesian troops will be the first members of the International Stabilization Force to reach Gaza, although there is no exact date for their arrival yet.

The troops will stay in the southeast of Rafah, according to the report. Offices and living quarters will be built for the troops in the coming weeks. The Prime Minister's office did not respond to requests for comments on the Kan report.

On November 17, 2025, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution to support the establishment of ISF in Gaza, Palestine.

Resolution 2803, drafted by the United States (US), received support from 13 council members. Russia, which proposed a rival draft resolution, chose to abstain, as did China.

The resolution authorizes the UN member states and the Board of Peace (BoP) to establish a temporary ISF in Gaza under unified command, with contributions of forces from participating countries, as well as authority to take necessary steps in accordance with international law.

According to the resolution, the ISF is tasked, among others, with helping to secure the border areas, stabilizing the security environment in Gaza by ensuring the demilitarization process in the Gaza Strip, protecting civilians, and coordinating with relevant countries to secure humanitarian corridors.

The ISF operates under the strategic guidance of the Board of Peace and will be funded through voluntary contributions from donors and funding sources of the peace board and the governments.
