
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia vs Japan national team suffered a heavy 0-6 defeat in the final match of the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers Asian Zone at the Suita City Stadium, Osaka, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. This result solidified Japan as the Group C champion with 23 points from 10 matches, while Indonesia finished in fourth place with 12 points.
Although already guaranteed to advance to the next round, the significant loss in this Japan vs Indonesia match is a bitter note to accept. Japan dominated from the early minutes and successfully scored six goals against Indonesia without reply.
Despite the unsatisfactory result, Timnas still has the opportunity to bounce back in the fourth round.

Japan took the lead in the 15th minute through a goal from Daichi Kamada who utilized a well-timed pass from Shunsuke Mito. Although it touched Emil Audero's hand, the ball still entered Indonesia's goal. Japan's dominance was evident with an 83 percent ball possession in the first 15 minutes.
Takefusa Kubo doubled the home team's lead in the 18th minute through a corner kick execution. The Real Sociedad player easily bypassed unguarded Indonesian defense. Towards halftime, Kamada once again breached Indonesia's goal in the 45+6 minute after tricking three defenders and slotting the ball into the net.
In the second half, Japan continued to showcase their prowess. Ryoya Morishita added to the lead in the 55th minute, followed by Shuto Machino who scored the fifth goal three minutes later. Ayase Hosoya then concluded Japan's goal fest with the sixth goal in the 80th minute after receiving a pass from Nakamura.
Throughout the match, Indonesia struggled to cope with Japan's fast and organized play. The Garuda team's defense was constantly bombarded by sharp attacks from various sides. This result marked a heavy defeat for Indonesia in this qualifying match.
