TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta is exploring green infrastructure investment cooperation with the All-China Environment Federation (ACEF) delegation to promote environmental sustainability and urban resilience amid global challenges.
Deputy Head of the Jakarta Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP), Muhammad Herizkianto, said the relationship between Indonesia and China, which has existed for more than seven decades, provides a strong foundation for expanding cooperation, particularly in the sustainability sector.
"We believe that a strong partnership will determine our success in building a resilient and sustainable urban system," Herizkianto said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.
But Jakarta cannot advance by itself; hence, the government is inviting investors to develop joint solutions for sustainable development and the urban environment.
He also underscored China's hefty contribution to foreign investment, reaching US$7.5 billion nationwide by 2025 and US$483 million in Jakarta—but said there's room for improvement.
He also ensured that the Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Jakarta Investment Center (JIC) Management Unit, is ready to provide comprehensive investment facilitation, from project opportunity exploration to the licensing process.
Meanwhile, ACEF Vice Chair Hong Ping stated that Jakarta, as one of the most dynamic cities in Southeast Asia, has vast development prospects.
Hong Ping said China seeks to move beyond Jakarta's mere tech provider to become its "long-term partner" in development.
He revealed that the infrastructure and environmental sectors are the main priorities for this collaboration, aligning Jakarta's needs for urban transportation development, wastewater treatment, improving water quality, and waste management.
"These areas are our company's core strengths. We are ready to bring solutions and experience from China to be implemented through concrete, mutually beneficial projects," Hong Ping stated.
Furthermore, ACEF is encouraging the establishment of a long-term communication mechanism to ensure that the cooperation does not stop at the discussion stage.
