TEMPO.CO, Solo - Former Indonesian President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has revealed details of his iftar (breaking of the fast) meeting with current President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
Jokowi, the father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, stated that the two-hour gathering was a regular meeting, though they did discuss several topics.
"It was just a regular iftar and gathering," he told reporters at his residence in Gang Kutai Utara I, Sumber Village, Banjarsari District, Solo, Central Java, on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
He explained that the conversation with Prabowo included light-hearted topics. However, he acknowledged that political matters, especially concerning the country's development, were briefly discussed.
"[Political issues] came up a little. [Country development?] Yes, a little. We also talked about food and other easy topics. The meeting lasted two hours, so we covered many things, bit by bit. Everything was easy [topics]," he said.
Jokowi clarified that there was no discussion about Danantara or any plans for another meeting after Eid al-Fitr 2025. When asked about future meetings with Prabowo, he confirmed there were no immediate plans.
During the interview, journalists also inquired about Jokowi's Eid plans. The former Mayor of Solo confirmed he would celebrate the holiday in Solo. However, he had not yet decided on the location for the Eid al-Fitr prayer.
"The first, second, and third days, and the Eid prayer, will be in Solo. But I don't know the exact location for the prayer yet. [Family gatherings?] I'm not sure, everyone is busy. But, after they are not, they should visit their parents," he said.
He reiterated that he would not host an open house at his residence during Eid al-Fitr. However, he welcomed any residents who wished to visit.
