TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The animated film Jumbo, directed by Ryan Adriandhy, took home the Citra Trophy for Best Long Animation Film at the 2025 Indonesian Film Festival (FFI).
The film, which has already been seen by more than 10 million viewers in theaters, competed against Panji Tengkorak by Daryl Wilson and Warkop DKI Kartun by Rako Prijanto and Daryl Wilson.
Speaking at the awards ceremony at Teater Jakarta, Taman Ismail Marzuki on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Ryan expressed pride and gratitude for the recognition.
“Animated films are celebrated by many, and Jumbo is expected to bring an even broader sense of empathy to audiences. We are also delighted to share the stage with Warkop DKI Kartun and Panji Tengkorak this year,” he said.
Celebrating the Spirit of Animation
Ryan emphasized that the success of Jumbo is not just a personal milestone, but a testament to the resilience and growth of Indonesian animation. “This award is for the 420 creators who poured their hearts into this project. I also dedicate it to my mother, whose support shaped me from an early age, and to my wife,” he added.
Producer Anggia Kharisma of Visinema Studios highlighted the dedication behind the six-year production of Jumbo. “It has been a long journey with incredible support from the entire crew. May its good vibes continue to flow. This film is truly for our children,” she said.
In addition to winning Best Long Animation Film, Jumbo received nominations in multiple categories, including Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Music Arranger, and Best Theme Song Composer.
A Record-Breaking Achievement
Jumbo has also officially become the best-selling Indonesian film of all time. Within just 60 days of release, it drew 10 million viewers, surpassing the previous record held by KKN di Desa Penari (2022), which reached the same milestone in more than 90 days.
The film’s success underscores the growing popularity and cultural impact of animated storytelling in Indonesia, signaling a new era for local animation that resonates with audiences both young and old.
