TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several sports are poised to deliver additional gold medals for the Indonesian contingent on the second day of the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, taking place Thursday, December 11. A number of key athletes will enter events that had earlier been identified as strong medal prospects.
In athletics, the spotlight falls on the men’s 100 meters, where sprinters Lalu Muhammad Zohri and Bayu Kertanegara are expected to contend for top finishes. Indonesia also sees medal potential in the decathlon through Idan Fauzan Rischan, while the women’s pole vault features Diva Rennata Jayadi and Maria A. Melabessy.
Swimming also offers wide opportunities for podium finishes. Jason Donovan Yusuf and I Gede Siman Sudartawa will compete in the men’s 50 meters backstroke, with Masniari Wolf and Flairene Candrea representing Indonesia in the women’s race.
The men’s 50 meters freestyle presents another chance through Samuel Maxson Septionus, while Serenna Karmelita Muslim and Izzy Dwifaiva Hefrisyanthi compete in the women’s category.
Additional medal hopes come from Muhammad Dwiky Raharjo in the men’s 100 meters breaststroke and the men’s 4x200 meters freestyle relay scheduled for the evening.
In jujitsu, the competition has moved into its medal rounds. Final events have already concluded in extreme sports such as waterski and wakeboard.
Taekwondo, Indonesia’s first gold medal contributor at this year’s Games, continues its run through several events up to the final matches. Further medal prospects emerge from billiards, karate, MMA, gymnastics, canoeing, and cycling, while several other sports remain in their preliminary phases.
Indonesia’s Performance So Far
On the opening day, Indonesia collected five gold medals across taekwondo, canoeing, swimming, petanque, and badminton, along with nine silver and seven bronze. These results currently place Indonesia second in the provisional medal standings.
SEA Games 2025 Standings
Indonesia holds second place with 5 gold, 9 silver, and 7 bronze medals. Host nation Thailand sits comfortably at the top with 19 gold, 13 silver, and 9 bronze.
Singapore follows in third with 5 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze, while Vietnam is in fourth place with 4 gold, 4 silver, and 15 bronze. Myanmar trails with 2 gold, 4 silver, and 1 bronze, ahead of Malaysia and the Philippines, which have two gold medals each. Laos ranks just below them.
Brunei Darussalam has secured one silver and one bronze, Timor Leste has earned one bronze, and Cambodia has yet to win a gold medal as of Wednesday evening, December 10.
