'Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse' Teases Emotional Finale in First Reveal

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse made a strong impression at CinemaCon 2026, where Sony Pictures Animation unveiled its first footage and new images from the highly anticipated trilogy finale. 

The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on June 18, 2027, following the cliffhanger ending of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which grossed more than $690 million worldwide, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

On Monday night, the presentation was led by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who were joined on stage by directors Justin K. Thompson and Bob Persichetti. Miller described the film as “the most emotional” entry in the series, while Lord called it the “most spectacular.”

The animation will feature returning voices including Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, and Jason Schwartzman. Directed by Persichetti and Thompson, the screenplay is written by Lord, Miller, and David Callaham, based on Marvel Comics. Lord and Miller also serve as producers alongside Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh, with Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg as executive producers, Deadline and Collider confirmed. 

After discovering that an alternate version of himself has become the Prowler in a lawless parallel world, Miles Morales is left stranded and hunted by the Spider Society. The two clash over their identities, accents, and styles before the encounter turns physical. The original Miles eventually escapes using his electric powers.

Another scene shows Miles confronting his rival Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099), while a separate image explores a younger Jefferson alongside his brother Aaron Davis before his transformation into the Prowler.

Phil Lord said fans can expect returning characters alongside deeper emotional stakes for Miles Morales, as he grapples with betrayal and growth. “We try to represent goodness… and show how the love that the characters have for Miles translates into his growth and success,” he said. Lord also introduced early footage, adding that Sony Pictures Animation is “all about pushing boundaries.”
